Education:

1. B.Sc. (Biology, McMaster University, 2017-2021)

2. M.Sc. (Animal Biosciences, University of Guelph, 2021-2022)

Advisor: Dr. David Huyben

Academic:

I am currently a M.Sc. student working with Dr. David Huyben. I finished my Honours Bachelor of Science degree at McMaster University in April 2021, with a major in Biology and a minor in Psychology. After that, I decided to move to Guelph to continue my studies at the University of Guelph in the Department of Animal Biosciences. My master project will be focusing on the effect of diet on metabolism and immune response of lake whitefish. I am always fascinated by the complex interactions between the environment and the animals. Nowadays, many species are facing the crisis of climate change and there will be various negative impacts on animal physiology, which further influences the normal functioning of the immune system. Especially in the aquaculture industry that the aquatic species are vulnerable and sensitive to the changing water temperature and water quality. Therefore, changing diet compositions may be one of the solutions to complement the negative impacts of global warming and improve the immune response under extreme conditions, which is the focus of research during my M.Sc at the University of Guelph.

About me:

I obtained my B.Sc. degree in 2021 studying Biology at McMaster University. During my undergraduate degree, I took many courses on animal physiology and ecology, which led me to develop my passion for fish physiology and the impacts of various environmental stressors on the fish immune system. In my free time, I enjoy hiking, reading, and spending time with my cat, Milk. In the future, I hope to do a Ph.D. and contribute towards improving fish resistance and the sustainability of the aquaculture industry to changing/extreme environments.
