Below are data on weaning weights (in pounds) of calves of one breed of beef cattle. Assume a maternal effects animal model.

and $\sigma^{2}_{p} = 500$ and $\sigma^{2}_{e} = 6500$. CG stands for contemporary group. All calves were female. All weights are expressed as 200-day weights.

Write the model for these data.

Construct HMME and solve.
3.
Partition the direct genetic solution for animal 7 and also partition the maternal genetic solution for animal 7.
4.
Partition the direct genetic solution for sire 14.
5.
(Extra Points) Show one iteration of REML estimation of the parameters or one round of Gibbs sampling.
