I born in a family with a substantial background in animal farming in the East of Iran. Since my city is surrounded by desert, for centuries my people have strived to utilize resources as efficiently as possible. However, due to the use traditional methods, maximum efficiency has not been achieved.! Having grown up in this condition and being aware of the rural peoples' trouble to meet feed requirements for their farm animals, I was motivated to pursue my BSc in the field Animal Science at University of Ferdowsi of Mashhad, in Mashhad, Iran. Due to demand for skilled-workers and scientists in field of poultry farming, I pursued my MSc in poultry nutrition at the same university. After my graduation, I worked in Research and Development for a poultry feed factory. My passion for learning led me to continue my education in the field poultry nutrition and currently I am doing my PhD with Dr. Elijah Kiarie.
My PhD research is to evaluate nutritional approaches for enhancing functional skeletal and immune system in egg strain. I will study the epigenetic response to maternal and rearing/pullet feeding of ω-3 fatty acids. Epigenetic effect is the heritable changes in gene expression (active versus. inactive genes) that do not involve changes to the underlying DNA sequence. These kinds of changes occur in phenotype without a change in genotype. Why am I studying skeletal and immune system? Skeletal disorders and weaknesses of the immune system persist in commercial poultry production and the associated mortality and morbidity exert huge economic losses on producers. The long term objective of this research is to investigate nutritional approaches to improve skeletal integrity and immune system in egg-strain hens through application of epigenetic.
I hope that results of my study will be able to be used for a practical purpose to improve bird health and welfare. My prospective for my future career is to work in the research section of a university or in industry! I love to do research and to learn new things
