I graduated from South China Agricultural University in Guangzhou, China. My undergraduate major was animal science, and I mainly worked with large animals. I am now starting research in a new field related to aquaculture, as a MSc student in the fish nutrition team, working with Professor Dominique Bureau. I also have several nice colleagues in the laboratory with whom I hope to have more tasks finished. My research topic is to use quantitative analysis methods to improve the efficiency of aquaculture production. My job is to find tools to solve the challenges fish farmers may face during feeding time for fresh water rainbow trout in Canada. Because I am still in the beginning of my project, I am currently taking courses to learn technical methodologies related to animal nutrition; Im trying to read as many articles related to animal nutrition as possible, and I’m improving my English reading & writing skills as well. I’m looking forward to working on my project, and conducting experiments to obtain accurate and useful data via the process of discovery.
I have many interests and hobbies. For example, I love music and used to play the Erhu – a Chinese traditional instrument. I love watching TV shows and movies as well, especially to learn about different cultures outside my country. This job is to learn swimming to me because I need to learn to survive in a new environment with challenges, such as getting used to the food and temperature here in Canada. While I’m a graduate student, I also want to participate in some volunteer positions, and jobs with some challenges related to aquaculture and animal nutrition. In the end, I hope to succeed in the exploration of my project and eventually swim on my own for a long way.
